Millwall Football Club are considering a move to bring Gent striker Max Dean back to England, according to Football League World. The Lions have had a strong start to their transfer window as they look to go again after their Championship play-off defeat last season. League standing (final 2025 table -- new season not yet under way): 3rd in Championship, 83 pts, 24W-11D-11L from 46 games, recent form LDWDW. Millwall have brought in six players already, spending around £10m, and they are not stopping their. According to Football League World, Alex Neil's side are considering a move for Gent striker Max Dean. The 22-year-old has interest from several Championship clubs and Millwall are one, despite already signing striker Tairyk Arconte. Dean scored seven goals in 24 games for Gent last season as his side finished 5th in the Belgian Pro League. However, he has been out with a knee injury since the end of the campaign which has hampered his pre-season so far. The knee problem has been a constant issue for Dean since his move to Belgium. He has still impressed for Gent though, proving to be a consistent goal threat since he made the move. ## Unfinished business in England for Max Dean Dean came through the youth ranks at Everton before joining Leeds United's academy in 2019, where he signed his first professional contract two years later. Although he never made a senior appearance at Elland Road, the striker impressed for the club's Under-21 side and gained valuable experience in youth competitions, including the EFL Trophy. His breakthrough arrived following a permanent move to MK Dons in January 2023, reuniting with former Leeds coach Mark Jackson. Dean scored on his first senior start and went on to enjoy a superb 2023/24 campaign, netting 19 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions. His 15 League Two strikes saw him finish as the club's top scorer, while he also collected the MK Dons' Young Player of the Year honour. That form earned him a £2m move to Belgian side Gent in July 2024. Dean adapted quickly, scoring 13 goals in his debut season, adjusting despite the major step-up. A return to England may be the perfect move for Dean after experiencing top-flight football in Europe. That should help him cope with the intensity of the Championship. ## The Verdict: Millwall may not be the right club for Max Dean Dean is a fine striker and will be a good pickup for most Championship sides. However, at 22 years old he needs to be playing consistent football. At Millwall, that may not be the case as they already have three first-team strikers at the club. Neil's side have already snapped up Arconte this summer and Dean may struggle to guarantee game time with Josh Coburn and Mihailo Ivanovic also on the books in London. Mihailo Ivanovic's stats for Millwall – 2025/26 season Given Millwall tend to play with just one forward, Dean would need some serious assurances to consider the switch over other Championship sides. With that said, it would be a big coup for Neil if he could add Dean to his squad, but other strikers are on his radar. Goals this season: 64 scored, 49 conceded (+15 goal difference). Title race: 12 points behind leaders Coventry.
