Millwall Football Club boss Alex Neil plans to rotate his squad for the upcoming EFL Cup tie against Cambridge United. The Lions head into the tie fresh off a convincing 3-0 victory over Norwich City at The Den, with summer signing Tairyk Arconte scoring a brace before Luke Cundle added a late third. They did so without eight first-team players, with right-back Ryan Leonard the latest to join the injury list after picking up a hamstring injury. The victory extended Millwall's unbeaten start to the season, having previously beaten Queens Park Rangers on penalties in the EFL Cup First Round before defeating Bristol City 2-0 away in their league opener. Speaking to the media after Saturday's win, Neil confirmed he would make changes. "We need to rotate," Neil said. "Our squad at the moment's really small, in terms of who's available. Luke Cundle is really unfortunate he's not been playing. Came on; he got his goal, which was great for him. Elkan [Baggott] certainly needs a game. Danny Batth might need a game. "There'll be a few changes for this one coming up. But the guys that I'm putting in, I expect them to be more than capable of getting us through to the next round." Millwall have enjoyed mixed fortunes in the cups during Neil's 20-month tenure as head coach. In his first season, the Lions reached the FA Cup Fifth Round after beating Dagenham & Redbridge and Leeds United, before Premier League side Crystal Palace ended their run. The following season, the Eagles knocked Millwall out of the EFL Cup, this time on penalties after wins over Newport County and Coventry City. Their FA Cup campaign, meanwhile, lasted just one game, with Burnley beating them 5-1 at Turf Moor. Neil was asked whether he would relish a cup run. "Providing you've got a full squad, I think cup runs are good," Neil said. "They're useful to keep everybody on their toes and everybody getting minutes along the season. "When you're maybe light in numbers, then sometimes you look at it and think we can't afford any more injuries at this moment in time. But there's never a game that you don't want to win. We'll never take the pitch and not want to win that game, ever.
