Zak Sturge has signed a new long-term contract with Millwall Football Club, securing the defender's future at The Den. The 22-year-old left-back has become a regular fixture this season, featuring in every one of Millwall's 11 Championship matches, a campaign in which they sit 12th with 15 points from four wins, three draws and four losses.

Sturge initially joined the club on loan from Chelsea in February 2025 before making the move permanent last summer. He has since made 60 appearances for the Lions, scoring one goal. Director of football Steve Green highlighted the player's development as a key reason for the new deal. Green said.

The contract news provides a boost as Millwall prepare for a key away fixture against Portsmouth on Saturday 24 October. Alex Neil's side currently sits 12th in the Championship table with 15 points from their 11 games, a record of four wins, three draws and four losses. Their recent form has been mixed, with the last five results reading draw, loss, win, draw, draw, following a 2-2 home draw with Lincoln City last weekend where Kyrell Lisbie and Jake Cooper scored the Millwall goals. That result came after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Swansea City on Tuesday 13 October.

Sturge's consistent availability has been valuable for a squad handling a competitive league season. Millwall have scored 18 goals and conceded 18, leaving them with a zero goal difference and eight points behind league leaders Swansea City. The club has not disclosed the specific length of Sturge's new contract.

With the next challenge a trip to Fratton Park, securing a key defender's future allows the management to focus fully on the fixtures ahead. The team's top scorer this season is Lyndon Dykes, who has found the net four times in his 11 appearances.
