Millwall Football Club has signed striker Lyndon Dykes, who will share the load with Josh Coburn.
What happened?
The Lions have confirmed the signing of Dykes, who has signed a one-year deal with the club. He becomes the ninth signing of the window, following the additions of Jenson Metcalfe, Tairyk Arconte, Mathis Servais, Mark Sykes, Elgan Baggott, Kyrell Lisbie, Danny Batth, and Massimo Luongo. The 30-year-old was most recently at Charlton Athletic, where he scored three goals in 20 appearances.
Why it matters for Millwall Football Club
Alex Neil explained that the signing of Dykes was necessary to ease the burden on Josh Coburn, who has had significant injuries in the past. Dykes provides a similar profile to Coburn, with the ability to hold up the ball and threaten from crosses. With the new season approaching, the Lions are preparing to improve their standing in the Championship, having finished 3rd in the final 2025 table with 83 points, 24W-11D-11L from 46 games, and a recent form of LDWDW.
What comes next?
The signing of Dykes is a significant boost to the Lions' attacking options, and he will be expected to make an impact in the upcoming season. As the team aims to close the 12-point gap behind leaders Coventry, the addition of Dykes will be crucial in sharing the load with Coburn and providing a different attacking threat. With 64 goals scored and 49 conceded, the Lions will be looking to improve their goal difference and make a push for the top spot in the Championship.
