Millwall Football Club's former defender Joe Bryan has announced his retirement from professional football. Bryan, 32, was released by the Lions at the end of last season. He joined Millwall on a free transfer from Fulham in the summer of 2023 and played 90 games in all competitions for the club, scoring three goals. Bryan made 464 career appearances and scored 32 goals, winning League One and the Football League Trophy with Bristol City in 2014-15. He also won the Championship title with Fulham in 2022. Bryan's last game was a 0-0 draw against West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns in April when he came on in the 73rd minute but was forced off 14 minutes later with a head injury. 'It's disappeared in the blink of an eye, but now feels like the right time to bring the curtain down on my playing career,' Bryan posted on social media. 'Whilst not the perfect ending everyone hopes for, I am at peace with the decision to retire and move into a new phase of my life. I'd like to thank everyone who has supported me through each failure, each success, each setback and each triumph. It has been a truly special journey.' League standing (final 2025 table -- new season not yet under way): 3rd in Championship, 83 pts, 24W-11D-11L from 46 games, recent form LDWDW.
