Millwall Football Club is extremely saddened to announce the passing of former manager Kenny Jackett at the age of 64. Kenny Jackett, the former Millwall and Wolves manager, has sadly died, with the news confirmed by his former clubs on Friday. He spent almost 30 years in management and took charge of over 900 games for various clubs. After his playing career came to a premature end at the age of 28 due to injury, Jackett took his first managerial role back in 1996 with his hometown club, Watford. He would go on to manage both Swansea and Millwall, winning promotion at both clubs. And he achieved a similar feat at Wolves in 2013, guiding the club to promotion from League One at the first attempt. Jackett fashioned both Millwall and Wolves into competitive Championship outfits after guiding them both to promotion from the third tier. He also guided the Lions to an FA Cup semi-final. LMA Chief Executive Richard Bevan said Kenny stands as one of the most respected managers to have plied their trade in the EFL. So his passing is a huge loss to all that knew and loved him. Millwall released a statement paying tribute to Jackett, which read: Millwall Football Club is extremely saddened to announce the passing of former manager Kenny Jackett. He managed over 300 games during his time with the club, leading The Lions to promotion from League One and to an FA Cup Semi-Final. Wolves followed with their own tribute and said: Wolves are devastated to learn of the passing of our former manager Kenny Jackett. He led the club to its incredible record-breaking League One title and laid the foundations for the club as we know it today. The thoughts of everyone at Wolves are with Kenny’s family and friends at this time. But his most recent role in football saw him become the director of football at Gillingham in January 2023, before he left the position in November the following year on medical grounds. His family, including his wife Samantha, sons David and Ryan, are in the thoughts of everyone at Millwall Football Club. And the club will always remember his achievements, including the promotion from League One and the FA Cup semi-final appearance.
