Millwall Football Club are still looking to strengthen this summer, but to do so, they will have to sanction some departures after their squad limit was reached. The Lions have confirmed the re-signing of Massimo Luongo to make it eight new additions this summer. They have also seen nine departures, including Sheldon Kendall, Rafiq Lamptey, and Kamarl Grant leaving on loan. Alex Neil's side have reinforced well this transfer window to build on their impressive 3rd place finish last term. The South London outfit will aim to finish in the top eight next season, and they look like a competitive squad on paper. The Lions are still said to be in the market for a couple of new signings this summer, with another winger still a priority. However, if they are to recruit more players, they must first add to their list of exits. Millwall's latest injuries to Mihailo Ivanovic, Tristan Crama, and Mathis Servais make it an interesting next few weeks of the window. There could still be plenty of twists and turns for Neil's side ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Who could still leave Millwall this summer?
Millwall will have to sanction some exits this summer if they are to bring in new faces. Some departures will be necessary while others could be out of the Lions' hands. Firstly, Jack Howland and Ajay Matthews are likely to leave on loan and follow on from Lamptey, Kendall, and Grant. The duo had disappointed in their stints away last term and will look to do better in their second spells. Ra'ees Bangura-Williams is one of the more senior players who could also leave for the 2026/27 campaign. The 22-year-old needs game time. If he can secure minutes for a League One club, the Lions should let him go to further his development.
Ra'ees Bangura-Williams' stats for Millwall
However, the Millwall prospect's transfer status could depend on whether Luke Cundle remains at the Den by the end of the window. The attacking midfielder has struggled to break into Neil's starting XI, and if a suitable offer were to come in, the South London outfit may accept. Benicio Baker-Boaitey could also be sent out on loan. However, he was said to still be recovering from injury, so his departure could be delayed until January. Lastly, Femi Azeez could also leave the Lions this summer, with Hull City the latest team to be of interest. There have been no offers for the right-winger thus far.
The Verdict: Millwall have had an impressive transfer window
Regardless of what's to come in the coming weeks, Millwall have had a solid transfer window. Injuries are yet again impacting how their business is perceived, but the foundations of a great squad are there. The Lions have stuck to their transfer model and have brought in a good mix of experience and potential. Their lack of know-how in the play-offs cost them against Hull City, and they will want to avoid the same mistakes next term. Neil is still the right man to lead the South London outfit, though. Millwall have been transformed under the Scotsman, and things are on the up at The Den. League standing (final 2025 table -- new season not yet under way): 3rd in Championship, 83 pts, 24W-11D-11L from 46 games, recent form LDWDW. Goals this season: 64 scored, 49 conceded (+15 goal difference). Title race: 12 points behind leaders Coventry.
